Worship Ministries

St. Paul's seeks worship that touches the heart and mind through Word and sacrament for the sake of the kingdom. Parishioners are invited to join us in our worship services by participating in any of our worship ministries. Volunteer for any of these ministries.

Acolytes
During the 9 and 11 a.m. services, acolytes from 5th-12th grade carry the candles (torchbearer) or the cross (crucifer) in the procession while older youth assist the clergy in setting the Eucharistic table. Adult acolytes serve as crucifer and server at the 7:45 a.m. service. Staff contact is the Rev. Judith Harris Proctor ext 24.

Altar Guild
The St. Paul's altar guild works to prepare the altar for worship services, including baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals. The altar guild is also responsible for the care of vestments, altar hangings, linens, candles, silver/brass, and flowers. Altar guild members are grouped into teams that serve a six week period. Chalice Bearers
Chalice bearers, also referred to as lay eucharistic ministers, are licensed by the Bishop, and administer the chalice on Sundays and are commissioned to take consecrated communion to parishioners who are unable to attend regular worship services. Contact is Carmen Guzmán Lowery.

Intercessors
Intercessors read the Prayers of the People at the 9 and 11 a.m. services. Staff contact is the Rev. Judith Harris Proctor.

Lectors
The lectors volunteer to assist in the worship services by reading the appointed lessons. Staff contact is the Rev. Judith Harris Proctor.

The adult choir leads worship at the 11 a.m. Sunday service from September to June. At least twice a year, the choir provides a choral worship. Rehearsals are from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Thursday evenings.

The handbell choir for teenagers and adults participates in worship occasionally. Rehearsals are 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm on Sundays.

The children's choir includes children in grades two to seven. Rehearsals are from  4 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons. Their usual schedule is to sing at the first and third Sundays at the 9 a.m. service.

The cherub choir, for children ages 3 through 6, is directed by music associate Molly Katcheressian, and meets each Sunday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. The cherub choir sings occasionally at the 9:00 a.m. service

Sudanese Congregation
St. Paul's is host to a developing Southern Sudanese congregation. The Rev. Andrew Akuak celebrates at the Sudanese service at 2:30 p.m. in the nave on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.

Ushers
Families serve as ushers at the 9 a.m. service and adults serve at the 11 a.m. service. Ushers assist with seating, distribute the worship bulletins and guide parishioners to communion.
