Shrine Mont

St. Paul's Parish Weekend at Shrine Mont
Sept. 18-20, 2009
St. Paul's Parish Weekend at Shrine Mont
Sept. 18-20, 2009

Would you like to put down your phone and pick up your soul? Would you like to bring your family to a place where your kids can play without worries of cars zooming by? Would you like to worship outside for a change? Would you like to challenge your self to go back to the easy life, sit on a porch rocker and remember your God, your church and your self? If any of this sounds good to you then go to your desk right now and put this date on your calendar!

You are invited to time away - time to refresh your soul in the peace of the Shenandoah Valley. Time to reflect on life's distractions and delights. Time to reconnect with your family and your parish. Shrine Mont is sure to be a weekend with "something for everyone". For many of us, that's just small talk for, "a nice relaxing weekend in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains".

Ever wondered what Shrine Mont is and why the people who go there keep on going back? Well, Shrine Mont has been a place of respite since it was first built in 1850 as the historic Orkney Springs Hotel. People came from throughout the country to drink from its healthful waters. It is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has, since 1920, served as the conference center of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. It has Adirondack chairs for relaxing in. It has porches to read on. It has a pond to fish in and a mountain to climb. It has tennis courts to play on and shady paths to walk on. It has the most beautiful little outside "cathedral" and other peaceful places for prayer and reflection. It is one of God's great gifts to us.

Please join us at this, "place apart - for rest, devotion and fellowship where we may all grow in the grace of God." Our speaker this year will be Dean of the Virginia Theological Seminary, The Very Reverend Ian Markham. Our own maestro, Douglas Beck, will be lead our musical program and our children's program will be coordinated by the energetic Bill Campbell. We'll have croquet, tennis, and you can even get a relaxing massage!

Registration forms are available at the church office or by clicking on the link below. If you'd like to help make the weekend even better, please join our planning team by contacting Talley and Chris Fulghum (Ph: 703-768-8232 or email: Talleyful@verizon.net) or by contacting Bill Campbell at the church office. We hope you can join us September 18-20 at Shrine Mont!
